Remington 46 rimfire.

Was just curious on the bullet weight and powder charges of the Remington 46 rimfire cartridges that were used in the various cartridge conversions for their revolvers.

COTW says the Remington load was a 227 gr bullet and 20 gr of powder while Winchester loaded a 230 gr bullet and 26 gr of powder. Seems like a lot of difference in ideas of a suitable powder charge. My old UMC list does not show rimfires.

Interesting! I knew remington did several of their own rimfires and have seen them referenced but never any kind of load data so I was just curious.

Interesting. Does COTW give a length dimension for the two different cartridges? Or a comparison of the cartridge overall lengths?

The .46 rimfire came in four different lengths. The .46 extra short, short, long and extra long with the short and long being the most popular. The long was produced well after WWI. The difference in the charges listed is probably the difference between the short and long. I didn't find any load data for the long.
