Reblueing affects fit in auto pistol?

I recently sent a Colt 1911 for reblueing of the slide. The slide came back beautiful. However, I noticed that the fit near the front of the slide (just after the front of he frame) now has a slight gap, exposing the recoil spring. I've noticed this gap in autopistols only in the Glocks, but never in 1911's. Is this normal after reblueing? Someone suggested this occurred due to polishing of the slide for reblueing. Is there any cure to this gap?

Don, I cannot imagine polishing the rear of the guide plug tunnel enough to cause a gap to appear. But, a reverse plug would be the easiest way to fill the unsightly gap. This might be a good excuse to get a full lenght guide rod as well. George

Like George, I can't imagine polishing the slide that much. Off hand, I wonder if you got the same slide back. Folks have been known to lose a part and substitute another one. (Do not ask how I know!)
