I have a Ruger 77/357 that runs with a suppressor. I have worked up a load that I like using a (heavy for caliber) 246 grain bullet seated in to 38 special brass but with the length of a slightly longer 357 magnum. The bullets are cast lead.
I am looking for what the ideal twist rate would be to stabilize these bullets.
The bullets are .358 caliber cast lead, they are 1.036 inches long. They are moving at about 900-925 FPS (subsonic is necessary to be really quiet)
The current 1-16" does stabilize them but they are pretty inaccurate. Groups at about 8-8.5 inches at 100 yards with a rest.
The problem is I dont want to blow up the lighter jacket bullets I shoot as well. I shoot alot of Hornady Jacketed bullets, they are usially doing 1500-2000 FPS, I dont care if these are super accurate but I dont want them to blow up in side the suppressor.
