Reading "Colt" SA dates.

Reading "Colt" SA dates. Have been negotiating on some on what I see as 2nd. Generation SA colts. There two lines of information on the frame. The first is the patent model and Date. What does the second line indicate? I know what I think is a date of manufacturing and the dealer says that it's older than what is stamped and I'm not reading it right. ……. :confused:

Any and all info will be appreciated … :)

Thanks again, Hawg

It can't be older than the latest patent date. Check the serial number on Proofhouse to get the year of manufacture. http://proofhouse.com/
That's what I kind of figured but was not certain. Sellers are kind of touchy about customers writing down S/N's off there firearms. ….. :mad:

Thanks again, Hawg and;

Ask for the serial number and tell them why you want it. Note any interesting features as well.

There are numerous places on the web where you can learn how to tell a first gen from a second and third. The serial number is the main way.
