I've been eyeballing the Silencerco Range Finder. But I'm not sure I want one mounted to my rifle.

Thanks RJRivero. I agree, I don't like the mounting / my engineering background sees all kinds of problems with it for use on a .50 BMG.
I do like some of the units that have an automatic link to a smartphone ballistic app. If I'm going to pay a grand (or more), that's table stakes.

I've been through a few and the only one I've found that will easily and consistently read at 1k yards is the Leica CRF-1000. I've used it a lot out west and even in the grasslands it easily returns readings. When held on a solid rest we were hitting some trees at 1100 yards. I would not hesitate to buy another one or recommend one to anyone. Well worth the money.

Sig Sauer Kilo 2000 is an excellent LRF. I was tired of rangefinders that claimed a grand that would barely register 500 on some days. 3400m reflective target, 1500 on deer sized targets is the claim. Haven't been able to verify the claims so far, but is easy and fast at 1000 and won't break the bank at less than $500. I was saving for a Terrapin, but upon seeing the reviews plopped down the coin for the KILO. I am really impressed so far.

Ditto on the Leica CRF-1000. Mine is a Rangemaster CRF-1000R, and has proven to be verifiably accurate and reliable to its max range.
Got to compare the KILO 2000 to a Leupold 1000. Optical quality was about even. Ease of use goes to the SIG. The max distance we could range there was right around 946yds to a tree line. The SIG picked it up but the Leupold couldn't register it. Have to take it out and compare it to the Zeiss Victory that another friend has. I really am liking it. It is fast and accurate. Conditions here have limited trying it out to it's max, but there's nothing I can do about it. I even got a reading of 746 from the window of my truck out to a treeline at 45mph. Didn't expect that.
I got a SA Sports Dragoneyez 1500.
They claim deer to 600 yards, reflective surface to 1500 yards.
Only thing I don't care for about it is that there is no way to mate it to a tripod to stabilize it.
When I first got it, I ranged a window to 1200 yards.
Deer are frequent in the 600-700+ yards.
The other evening, I ranged a nice 8 pt. standing broadside on a gas line at 1160yards.
I found it on Amazon. New cost is a little over $200. I got a "reconditioned" for $170.
I would highly recommend this!!
