Clean, tight, no box, dealer is asking 800 beans.
What light can this august body shed upon this weapon for this grateful supplicant?

IIRC, there were three versions of the Shorty Forty. They were made in three increments of 500 units. All were made for Lew Horton distributing by the S&W performance center.

The specs on all the Shorty Forty's were similar. 3.5 Barsto barrel, with Briley spherical bushing, bobbed hammer, Novak sights, 9+1 capacity, and aluminum frame (27oz).

The first version was melonite, made in 1992. The Shorty Forty MK II was stainless and appeared in 1993 and the Shorty Forty MKIII, 1997, was produced in melonite, with polished flats, as well as stainless (MKIIIS).

Lew Horton also had a PC 5" 40 cal that was often called a Shorty Forty.

For the $800 asking price, I'd expect that example to be NIB, with box & docs. The S&W 4013TSW pre rail, is basically the same pistol, minus the Briley bushing, and considerably cheaper. Hope this helps. Regards 18DAI.
