Question for Aussies.

I bought ADI AP70N powder for my 9mm and according to some it is not suited for this caliber. I checked the ADI manual and it is included in the table. 125g = 3.8g = 1085 fps. I dont know if they are just talking s### or from experience. I would like to hear from you guys.

TIA

I have the latest ADI handbook at home. I'm not a handgun shooter, so I'll have to look when I get home tonight and post a reply.

Hi Vega

Sorry about the delay. ADI doesn't list powders/loads or any technical information on its website -- you have to have the handbook.

From the latest book (November 2000):

AP-70N
A very versatile medium bulk density medium burning rate handgun powder useable for loading over almost the full range of handgun cartridges (but not necessarily top performance loads for which specialised burning rate powders must be used).

And yep, on page 24, under "9mm Luger (parabellum) in 4" barrel":

Lead 125 grn bullet-- AP70N -- 3.8 gr max charge -- 1055 fps

So, I would say use it and see if it suits you or not. If it does, go for it.

Cheers

Bruce

ADI powders

Sorry vega - only just returned after a long trip and only just seen your message.
We can easily send you the excellent new ADI reloading booklet (it is free) if you give me an address in PI, but I really feel that your supplier should have given you one when you purchased the powder.
You should have no problems atall with AP70, but I personally feel that their published loads are a bit on the high side.

IMHO I would reduce by 15% for your 9mm in tropical conditions maybe?
