Question about Sig Pistol

I was reading another article on the forum and someone mentioned the SIG P220 pistol is not allowed in IDPA. I did a very quick google search and admittedly only skimped the results for an answer. However, I didn't really see anything (that got to the point of) stating why it is not permitted. Also, I saw one article saying the IPSC/USPSA doesn't allow it either. All the articles were pretty old too.

Anyone have an answer as to why it isn't allowed in IDPA?

Looks like they are legal unless you are talking about a P220 Super Match, which is too long. Other than that, depending on the model, its possibly a weight issue but Im not sure...

I was referring to the Super Match model. Upon further research, it is because it won't fit in the box. However, it seems that at some point in the past it was allowed then the box size was changed or something...
