I'm pretty confident that these are early Python grips. Does anyone know when this design was used for the factory grip?

My guest-stimate

Have been a python owner since the mid-1970's & have shot a pickup truck load of ammo through it---my handloads !!!!!

I believe that grip style would be from 1955 to the early 1970's.

My favorite grip for the big snake, is the hogue mono-grip.

I believe all factory wood Python grips came with gold medallions...not silver.

Dang. It appears that you're right.

Dfariswheel - in the coltforum thread - is on TFL as well, and definitely knows what he's talking about.

thnx

As above, those are the early First Type Colt Target grips as used from 1953 to the very early 1960's.

Only the Python had Gold medallions in those days. Silver was used on the Officer's Model Match, original Trooper and the Colt 357.

Still, those grips these days are worth well in excess of $200.
