Not that I am aware of, but you could probably call S&W and have them research it for you.

I have the book "The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson" and it has all the dates listed for each model by serial number range. If you will post the edited serial number (123456 as 123###) I will check the book tonight and post or email you the date info.

how about a model 10?

Here is the serial number of my model 10 I bought today:

D2791xx

Barrel is stamped "38 S&W Special CTG". Am I safe in assuming it is made for the .38 special cartridge?

Would you be able to give me the approximate manufacture date?

Thanks.

Thanks, John.

This gun has a delightful trigger (at least with my snap caps). Will shoot it tomorrow for the first time. I've since read that the .38 S&W special is indeed the same as .38 special. This is my first S&W revolver. I also have on old Colt Police Positive Special, and a new Ruger GP-100.

Now I need to take up reloading!
