Found a recent article on understanding Twist Rate, of interest and helpful for those who are seeking information on the subject. Lists that the "Natural Stability" for a cylindrical projectile, is to tumble as oppose to a round ball. The factor of the projectile's center of gravity. For those who might be interested, you will find it on page 12 of the December issue of Shooting Times.

Those of us that shoot smooth bore canon have seen our share of surprises.
Such as; round balls don't spin. They hit the same as they leave the bore. Water bottles filled with rocks cut a perfect round hole at 100 yards, no tumble. 31,500 grain bullets require a backhoe to find, and hit nose first every time. Fascinating stuff.
