Possibly dumb question about holsters... :-)

I was looking at Desantis Holsters and noticed that their IWB holster called "Inner Piece" can hold a Colt 1911, but was wondering if the Springfield 1911A can be held in any Colt 1911 holster as if it were meant for that holster.

The answer is maybe.

There are some differences around the dust cover area, the dust cover on the Springfield is thicker and the relief cut slightly different, so if you try to put a Springfield in a holster tightly molded for a Colt it may not fit.

On a production holster like the Desantis line, you would probably be OK. On a tightly molded custom leather holster or a kydex one the answer is usually no.

You could check Desantis FAQs or email them and ask.
