Essex frame has no indents to stake tube in,
I just ordered a Nowlin tube with its longer
staking studs, the one I have has very short
studs, do I use a small round dremel stone?
also got slide to fit frame with Gunslick
and small strokes back and forth, it had one
1/4" spot on both sides of frame that was too
high, lost no metal from slide, that was a
worry, I got the tom wilson staking tool and
mag well filler, also got a GREAT shop manual
Jerry Kuhnhausen,volume 2, volume 1 has the
answers on tube staking, but I don't see it in
Brownells, and do I have to buy a front sight
staking tool? or someone got another way?

Zot, Brownells does have the part 1 shop manual. Stock #924-200-045. They used to sell a burr for the dremel just for opening up the holes to stake the tube. I use an 1/8" burr to do it. I'd get the Kings front sight staking tool. I think I gave $10 for mine a few years ago. You will probably get several answers about different methods of staking the sight. But do yourself a favor and get the tool. George
