Holy Crap! Pictures do not give a realistic portrayal of the size of this thing....It's like a freakin' howitzer! :D

I still need a bi-pod and a good scope and it'll be ready to rock.
I'll try and post pics by Monday.

I have wanted to get one of those myself....but I am curious of the recoil on an AR type stock.

Let us know how it shoots! I would like to see some photos.

I saw one at a gun shop. THEY ARE BIG!!! And cool. The one thing that sucks is I done think it will fit in my car.

His Armalite AR-50 probably doesn't have an AR-type stock, unless he's gone and done something weird to it.

Ahhhhh!

I was thinking that he bought a 50 BMG upper for the AR.

That looks very nice, 1bad

You can do that?! How does that work? You wouldn't even be using the same reciever, would you?

Several different companies make them. They do work. Most are single shot. You do use the standard AR lower receiver although sometimes the maker recommends a stiffer hammer spring.

The main advantage (of course) is that the AR lower is "the gun" as far as the Feds are concerned. So you can order a .50 BMG upper and not go through an FFL or paperwork. That's cheaper and it could turn out to be important down the road depending on what the Feds do about .50 cal rifles.

Ive read its not the recoil its the BLAST that gets you:)The brakes are suppost to do wonders as far as recoil but they make a hell of a mess with anything loose around you..Ive heard they even peel paint off from benches:(Ive recently read one of them has recoil around what a 7mm mag has.I don't wan't to know what they would be like without the muzzel brake WOW!!!!OFF to the hospital for shoulder work and a new eye socket:eek:

I wouldn't mind trying a .50 BMG without its muzzle brake. The weight of the gun itself reduces the recoil a lot.

Maser,,,,With all due respect I don't think THAT weight will save you:)You would be a sorry Mother-Fer if you ever fired a 50 bmg without a break..we arn't talking the difference between a 308 to a 300 win mag.. 50 BMG!!!! OUCH!! I FRIGGIN dare you to pull that one off without crying your way to the emergency room..Don't be alone for that test:D

Yeah, well the average .50 BMG rifle weighs about 5x the weight of an average deer rifle. I still would love to try it once while i'm still young and got strong bones. :D

It comes with Tylenol but the previous owner must have already used it. :D
After reading the owners manual there were 3 things that Armalite stresses repeatedly:
1) It is LOUD! Shooters/bystanders must wear double ears (plugs and muffs).
2) Do not under any circumstances fire the weapon with the muzzle brake removed. Serious injuries to the shooter WILL occur!!
3) Bystanders must stand directly behind the shooter to avoid the muzzle blast.

I love the trigger it is very light and crisp. Looks like it uses a standard AR style grip. Once I have some time I'm going to try to change it out with something nicer than the standard plastic.

I have a BFG-50, the warnings you posted F350, are to be heeded. I fired mine ONCE without ear protection and will never do so again. Maser, if you are brave enough I will unscrew the brake and let you try it, but I will have a lawyer draw up a release of liability for me that you must sign, before you pull the trigger( you won't be able to afterward!!!)

Yeah, it is very loud. When I first shot a .50 caliber I was very impressed by the sound of it. To me a .50 caliber is all bark and no bite. Bark means muzzle report and bite means recoil. Recoil is very managable. It's a fun slow recoil.

Maser the reason it had no bite is because it had a break on it:)you are talking about a 50 bmg right.??and not a 50 beowolf or something along those lines?50 shooter you shouldn't show such pornographic filth on this sight:D MAN THAT KICKS ASS!! I LOVE LONG RANGE SHOOTING I shoot 625yrds so far and wan't that 1000yrds.I can't even imagine how AWESOME it would be to shoot that 50 and at those distances..Have fun you basT#$%:)WELL I still love my little precision ar15 and wouldn't trade the 30 rapid fire long range shots I can do with it for the world:)BUt I am a little jealous(spelling?) Oh and 50 shooter,COME on ,,go ahead and put them on the ground and shoot prone you wimp..THE SAND BLAST BURNS CAN'T BE THAT BAD,HE-HE lol:)
