Would somebody please explain the rational behind "M-4gery" to me?

Is it because some people feel that the M-4 is kind of like an El Camino?
Not really a car or a truck, but doing both and failing miserably.

Ok, maybe you don't like M4geries.

Real M4 = selective fire, 14.5" barrel threaded with A1/A2 birdcage.

"M4gery" = usually semi-auto, 16" barrel or 14.5" with permanently attached flash suppressor to achieve a 16" barrel length. Some are registered as SBRs so they can legally have the 14.5" barrel.

Forgery is a form of immitaion of the original. Too bad we are not allowed to possess the small arm of our modern military - so forgeries (4geries) with legal features will just have to do.
