Oval objective scopes

Just saw these in the new midway catalog.. Tasco low power 1-5 variable 32x44 OVAL objective.. gathers more light, still stays low profile.. sounds like the bee's knees for a 'battle' rifle or brush gun. Price was higher than other tascos but I think this is a neat idea...

Anyone else ever make these? Dose the longer Y axis affect the lens clarity? Any thoughts??

Sounds sorta like a variant on the old Redfield "Widefield". A bit more light-gathering, a bit wider field of view.

BTW, the "Y" axis is the vertical...

Scope mounted so Y axis is the longer great for left handed giraffe hunters. Very limited market for such mountings tho.
