After a bunch of waiting, I finally bought a new Steyr AUG A3 today. It is a nice compact, lightweight rifle with several updates to the old model I used to carry including last shot bolt hold open and the top mounted rail. It doesn't come with any form of sights though, so an optic purchase is next on my list.
I have Eotech's on several of my rifles and have been pleased with them, but was looking for something with a bit more magnification.
I'm currently looking at the Leupold CQT or Aimpoint/Eotech with a flip magnifier.
The Leupold seems to be a love it or hate it scope. Theoretically it should work as a red dot and 3X scope....
Using a magnifier I worry the dot size will be too large at 3X power, plus at 1K for both the setup is far from cheap.
The rifle will be used for plinking, SHTF, and hunting.
Any other suggestions?
