Then, SNAIL MAIL a polite letter to your Congressheeple to the effect that you support Ashcroft's views. Include a reference to the Preamble to the Bill of Rights. Be polite and courteous, of course, and keep it to one page. Snail mail gets read by somebody; most email is disregarded due to the monstrous volume.
You also might snailmail to the AG's main office, to the effect that you object to the AG people's fighting against "Us" on Emerson.
