Opinions on the High Standard 1911

I was thumbing through a recent Cabela's flyer the other day and noticed they had a High Standard 1911 for around $389. I have absolutely no experience with this brand and was wanting to hear good/bad things from anyone who has one or had one.

The one they were probably advertising for that price was the GI model which is just a rebranded RIA 1911 with a better-looking rollmark.

I think RevolverLover is right; I saw one a couple of months ago and looked it over, hoping it came in another caliber other than .45. It didn't, and then I noticed it was marked Made in the Phillipines. So the manufacturer might be Armscour, who I believe also make the RIA models, and someone is marketing them here with the more recognizable name of High Standard.

Ok, and thanks for the info. Do you think it's worth the $390 or would you keep saving for something else?
