Open Carry in Alaska

Can anybody give me a few pointers and laws on this one? I'm looking to go hiking more often and in somewhat more remote areas, and would love to have a 454 Cas. across my chest. I'm originally from Illinois so carrying in general is still a new concept.

You can carry pretty much anywhere except those areas that are specifically prohibited such a bars, school grounds, domestic violence shelters, courthouses and most Nazi Park Circus lands. There are exceptions.

Also remember that there is no difference in open carry vs concealed. No permit is required for either unless you want a CHL. However, if you are stopped by LE you are required to disclose you are packing.

Other than that........Welcome to the Free world. Hopefully you can purge the Illanoidness from your brain and assimilate. ;)
