Old Model Trooper barrel

I need a new barrel for an old model COlt Trooper. It's the I frame, same as the Python and Officers Model. I know about the old threads vs. the new threads, but I've had two conflicting answers. Gun Parts tells me that a Python barrel will not work, but Brownells tells me that if I find a Python barrel with the old threads that it will work. Anyone have any experience or knowledge about this? Colt has not given me an answer. Thanks!

CH, Colt probably won't give you an answer other than "send it in". I think you don't really have conflicting answers. GPC is probably saying that the new barrel won't match up to an older frame while Brownells is saying the same thing. I thought that GPC sold the old barrels but if not check with Trader's Den (218) 666-5083. George
