Old Colt Revolver Question

On old Colt wheelguns, such as the Police Positive, there is a hole running through the knurled end of the ejector rod.
I figure this hole must have a purpose, but can't figure it out.

Anyone know?

Disassembly. Colt cylinders, ejectors, stars and so forth are finicky and a bit unique in takedown.

Is the hole threaded?

I thought these holes were for a locking screw.

The ejector rod heads on the early guns are smooth, and the hole is to insert a pin to unscrew the head for takedown. But I VERY strongly recommend AGAINST taking down the cylinder of any of the old type Colt revolvers. The chance of ruining parts is very high, and you don't need to disassemble the cylinder for cleaning. If you need to tighten or loosen the rod head, insert empty cases in the chambers first.
