May be up for sale soon. No idea what it's worth. Anyone have an idea what to ask on this old .45.

The person I got it from said it was a presentation model. No idea how to track or prove that tho..

A skilled craftsman may be able to restore it to something resembling the original configuration. The value of old guns is based the remaining original finish, and that gun has zero; maybe $500?

That is definitely not the original finish.
Looks like there is some surface pitting under the plating.
I think $500 is probably a good starting point.

What a shame to do that to a historic firearm. Were there no Astras around to give a bad nickel plating?

Make sure you check out the guns history before you do anything.

Weird things happen in war time and a hastily made presentation gun could have been made like that.

That gun looks like it is worth a lot. Contact the NRA about it. they might feature it. :)

NOTE: IT SAYS UNIGHTED STATES PROPERTY! that must mean something.

Did I spy a "United States Property" stamp on the left side of the frame?

It looks nice but probably worth only between 500-800. Or as much as someone will give you for it.
