Is it ok to do this? I'm considering getting
a taurus Ti snubby, or Redhawk or S&W mountain gun in .45lc and it would be nice to be able to shoot .45 acp as well.

What are you going to headspace off of?The LC is a rimed cartridge, the ACP is not. Will not work unless you get a blackhawk with the two cylinders. The acp one uses moon clips.

NO!!!!

As stated above, if you want a .45LC/.45ACP, buy the convertible Ruger Blackhawk, with both cylinders. I have the 4 3/4" bbl model, and love it. Very handy, very "packable" and really cheap to shoot with the .45acp-- if you reload. It's also built for tough.

Hi, beemerb and canuck1911,

The Ruger Blackhawk does not use moon clips with the .45 ACP cylinder (or with the 9mm cylinder in the 9mm/.357 combo). The chambers have sharp shoulders just like in an auto pistol barrel for headspacing, and ejection is by an ejector rod, not an extractor, so it does not matter if the cartridge has a rim or not.

Hi, canuck1911,

You can't shoot .45ACP in a .45 Colt cylinder because the round drops in too far.
