I just read about this in First Freedom, and I can't believe a caring mayor would limit himself to trying to ban young people from owning guns. He claims he wants to cut down on violent crime and a high murder rate, but his solution only addresses crime with guns. Why not stop all crime with all weapons? I am going to write him and suggest he really fight the murder problem by seeking a law making it illegal, with stiff penalties for any type of murder. Whether by gun, knife or bomb, once this law is passed the problem will clearly be solved. But wait, I just thought of this, could murder already be illegal and could criminals actually ignore the law! If this is so maybe they would ignore the gun prohibition law. But at least we could rest easy knowing that honest young people who obey the laws would not be able to own guns. I feel better already.
