North San Antonio range recommendations?

I am visiting a friend in Selma, TX area. He is new to area and has not been out shooting yet. Any ideas for rifle range in the north SA to south Austin area? We prefer one that is informal and we could pay one time visitor range fee or get membership and shoot same day. But any recommendations are welcome. Would like to shoot some rifle and handguns. Planning to go out Saturday morning, 8/30.

Lonestar

There is a range called Lone Star Handgun. Its $10 and that gets you on the rifle and pistol range. They only have metal targets on the pistol range and paper/metal on the rifle range. The range is off of 1604 and I 10 East.

There is also Bexar Community Range off of Trainer hale and I 10 East. both ranges are nice

Thanks very much. I saw Lonestar in my search but did not look at it thinking it was only handguns. Web site looks pretty good and reasonable price.

The info on KR must be a bit dated. Red's indoor range, according to the site, has a full auto night on Thursday. Is this still true? The Red's in north Austin (a suburb named Pflugerville) does not have a full auto night.

Just called Red's indoor range in south Austin. They said that they do not have a full auto night, and that the info is outdated.

Thanks for the info on Nardis. I will be going there.

We made it to Lonestar Handguns this morning. Thanks for the recommendations! Not a place to shoot precision targets or sight in loads, but lots of steel plates for plinking fun. Nice to be able to just drop in, pay $17 for two and have hours of fun.

Plenty of lanes that even though it was busy there were still half the lanes empty around Noon. Even though some places say it opens at 10am on Saturday it really is 8:30am.

One down side is you can never get in front of the shooting line to retrieve brass. After seeing a clip of HXP .39-06 bounce forward past the line we used a cloth to cover the ejection port on the Garand to retain those precious babies. Most AR brass bounces onto your arm (HOT!) or behind the line.

The lane barriers do echo the muzzle blast so I wore both foam plugs and over ear muffs.

Overall, a friendly easy place to shoot steel for a few hours.

Bullet hole off of grosenbacher on your way out to castroville. Pistol and rifle (up to 300yards) been a few years since I live out there.
