Newbie .45 Colt question =

I used to "remanufacture" my .45 Colt rounds with a lee loader. Haven't done so for about 8 years.

Really used to enjoy that and got some good results on paper for my trouble.

I have ordered another Lee Loader and will be at the gun store before it arrives.

Does anybody have the reference sheet for the .45 Colt kit handy? I need to know which propellant to get for a 255gr keith bullet in .45 Colt with the Lee Loader.

Would like to pick up primers and powder on this trip so I can resume reloading when the kit gets here.

Looking for a standard velocity, no greater than 750 fps from a 6" tube.

Appreciate any help.

Perl,
During your 8-year absence, a new powder has come out, designed for Cowboy Action shooting. IMR Trail Boss is perfect for 45C low-velocity loads. I don't use Keith's 255gr design, but rather 250gr flat noses, they fly at about 750fps from a 6" tube with 6 grains of Trail Boss.
Trail Boss is bulky and fills the cases, is clean and meters well.

If you're loading just lead, at moderate velocities, I STRONGLY suggest IMR Trail Boss.

I've been using it in my .44 Special and it's absolutely fantastic.

Eh, I see I'm a bit late on the update. :)
