New No-lock 640 ?

Is this a special revolver just made for the show, or are these really going to be available without a lock ?

I believe S&W is starting to drop the locks on some models.

And the ultimate irony will be that "ILS" models will become highly collectible after they stop putting it on their guns.

Smith released a batch of the 640 and 642 either last year or two years ago without the locks as well. I bought a stainless one, and it has been my favorite carry piece when my wardrobe cannot accommodate a full size pistol. From what I hear, they sold out of them very quickly. So it doesn't surprise me that Smith would release another batch.

Considering the sights on the one shown at SHOT, I may have to pick one up.
