Hello everyone. I'm new here, and its good to meet ya.

I've been looking for a good firearms forum.. and this looks like the one.

My question is about the Stevens 311C double barrel 12ga. I've recently bought one, and its in good shape. Despite all the reasearch though, I really cant turn up any data on them. I dont see a serial number anywhere on it, and I have no idea to tell how old it is. I'd like to be able to find an owner's manual too, or at least good directions on how to disasemble it. (I've never completely broke down a double barrel before)

If any of you own one of these, or know any thing about them, good, bad, or ugly, It would be helpful to me.

If any of you guys can help me out, I'd really apreciate it.

Welcome aboard.

The 311s were working class doubles, made first by Stevens and then by Savage. Older ones have no serial numbers, which were not required until the Gun Control Act of 1968.

Parts are available from places like Numrich, but little breaks. Firing pins maybe, and springs get tired.

I don't recommend getting into the action of a double.

I had a Ranger marked Stevens 311 I worked over into a Lupara. There's an old thread here about it. Search Lupara and my name.
