I just got a New Service chambered in 455 Eley. It was made in 1916 and has English marks on it. Were these returned to the states after the war?? Any info on ammo would help too.

.455 Eley is the same as the .455 Webley.Ammunition can be found manufactured by Fiocchi or hand rolled from shortened .45 Colt. They were made for Canada and Great Britain and later sold on the open market.A huge amount was re chambered for the .45 auto and .45 colt to appeal to american shooters.New service has always been a favorite of mine, first revolver was a Colt 1909.

Thanks for the info. Mine has had the cylinder cut to shoot 45 acp but a friend of mine still has one that shoots the Eley cartridge. Mine doesn't have much finish left on it but it is very accurate out to about 40 yards with my reloads.
