Need Help finding value of rifle

I have a 22 semi-auto rifle I inherited from my grandfather a few years ago. I have tried to research it and have come up empty. I took it to a gun shop for the purpose of information and possible value, but that was an experience I'd just as soon forget. When he made an offer on the gun I nearly hit him with it.
It's a tube-fed .22, with a Monte-Carlo walnut stock. It's in excellent shape, and I was wondering if anyone could give me information on it.
It's marked thusly:
ANSCHUTZ-SAVAGE MODELL 6P-N
J.G. ANSCHUTZ, ULM/D.W. GERMANY

There seems to be an import mark near the end of the barrel.

I remember seeing one similar at GunsAmerica for around $300, but that was a while ago.

Any info is appreciated.

I wasn't looking to sell it, I just wanted to see what kind of value it had. I went to the gun store because I figured they might have seen another and had an idea as to value.
I checked gunbroker and nothing.

Just curious what the gun store told you price wise?

I have no idea on value but it's a very nice looking gun and like said above I for sure wouldn't get rid of it since it's your from your Grandfather.

Sundown,
You are going to have to do some homework on this one as my Blue-Book does not show this model. I will say that the bolt actions are more disireable.
Why don't you go over to RimFire Central and see if they can help you. I'll be that guy at the gun shop, insulted you but Sometimes that comes with the business. I wonder if he really knew what you have?

I've got some older books that might give me more information. If so, I'll get back to you !!

The gun store guy looked at three books, couldn't find it, then proceeded to tell me that it was a common .22 worth about $40.

I'll check in other sources, this has started to become something of a mystery, so I want to see where this goes.

Hardly common and ask them when was the last time they sold or even seen one. Looks like you may have gone to a pawn shop instead of a gun store.

I'll say and then some. MARK THEM WELL !!!

javabum,
I figured it wasn't worth arguing with stupid people, since he seemed to be better armed than I was in that department.
THis gun won't be sold, it was Grandpa's squirrel gun, and it's as solid a rifle as I have ever felt. It's got good 'heft', and you just know it'll do it's job if you do yours. This is one of those guns that speaks to me, and you're a true gun guy if you know what I mean by that.

But I am curious about it, and would be interested how a Tennessee boy managed to get hold of this rifle way back when.

Buy a copy of The Blue Book Of Gun Values. It's good to have on hand when purchasing older weapons and getting an idea of your collections value.

I have several copies, but this particular gun isn't in there. There are Savage Model 6's, and Model 6P's, but this one is a mystery. A 6P-N? Made by Anschutz in Ulm. Was this a production gun, a transition gun, what? What are the production numbers? I'm going to have write a few letters, I think.
