Need help dating!

Well, yes, that too. However, I was talking about getting the date of manufacture of a gun.

It's a S&W 686 with a 4 inch barrel and factory wood grips. It has the firing pin mounted on the hammer, and a different looking cylinder release than I'm used to (it's bigger and rounded). It's serial number is AHD94XX. Can anyone help?

Not positive but I think it was made in 1985 based on the serial number.

According to the Standard Catalog of *&*, Second Edition, your 686 was manufactured in 1985.

Note that this particular firearm only has a 4 inch barrel. You don't think that 4 inches will impress a woman, do you? For that, I prefer something with a longer barrel like my Python or Anaconda!

Bran...dont' forget, length is not nearly important as girth and that L frame will do the trick, even with a 2 inch barrel....
