I bought a Auto Ordince M-1 Carbine. It came with the origanal pip sight. I want to change to the modifided sight put on the weapon later. I have the sight in hand the dove tail are the same size. I know you have to "drift the old sight out and tap the knew sight in. The question is what material should the punch or drift tool be make of plastic, brass, wood, steel. and a brass steel or leather , wood mallet. I don't want to bogger up the finish. If I can get the sight installed then I know I can drift it to sight it in. New gun never done anything like this before just wanting some advice. Even if i get advice I can still bogger up the process. Thanks for the advice
