Need Advice on Changing FLGR in 1911

I've got a Springfield TRP 1911 that came with a factory 2-piece full length guide rod. As of this afternoon, I've put 550 rounds down range with zero problems (awesome gun - more accurate than I am) expect the full length guide rod. What I've noticed is that when shooting, the guide rod will become loose. It hasn't came off or any thing crazy, but after a couple of mags you can re-tighten it by hand.

At this point I've decided to replace it with a one piece guide rod and wondered what is a good drop in replacement make? I don't want to go crazy and put a tungsten in, but wanted some suggestions on what to buy or what to avoid.

Thanks.

If it were mine I'd replace it with a standard guide rod and plug. You can get them from Brownells or Midway for maybe 15.00 or so.

I replaced the FLGR and plug on both my Kimber and Dan Wesson 1911s with an Ed Brown heavy duty recoil spring guide from Brownells - $12.00, and an Ed Brown recoil spring plug from Brownells - $6.36.

Won't locktite make it a PIA to take the gun apart for cleaning?
