I've been browsing this forum doing some research on Marlin rifles and the general consensus seems to be "buy a used one, the new ones are junk." The reason being that some big city company bought Marlin a few years ago, moved the factory, cut back on costs, etc.

Just the other day I came across this article that details how a Manhattan based private investment company has purchased many well-known firearm brands including Marlin, Remington, and Bushmaster.

Big businesses buying up the manufacturing end, plus the big retailers like Cabela's and Bass Pro taking over the sales end. Does this business strategy bode well for the industry as a whole?

Hate to say it, but this is old news - it's been covered before. I believe the general consensus is that it's not as big a deal as it's made out to be.
