My Tikka Master Sporter has arrived!

Hi All.

I am just about to pick up my first large caliber ceterfire rifle. I chose the Tikka Master Sporter in 6.5x55 because of a lot of good info here on the forum and it also has a target style stock.

I have heard that scope rings are hard to get for this rifle. Can anyone fill me in on a brand/supplier? It will be a month or so until I can afford a scope for it but I want to shoot up to 300 yards, any suggestions?

The supplier here in Australia only had four of these rifles left and I had a hard time choosing the caliber. I had a choice between .300 Win Mag, 6.5x55 and .308 but I chose the 6.5 for the reduced recoil. The rifle is costing me $1540AUD. The last one this shop sold was $2400AUD!! The rifle is discontinued so they're just clearing them. I'm stuck on a job today so I won't be able to pick it up 'till Monday. Can't wait :)

I have a tikka t3 lite. I don't know if you use the same rings with the master sporter as I do with the t3, but I got some warne rings through brownells: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/st...?p=15496&title=EUROPEAN+DOVETAIL+MAXIMA+RINGS

I actually needed the medium hieght in 30 mm, and they had to order them for me. If I were you, I would decide on which scope you want and ask Warne which of the rings fit the rifle and the scope. Contact info is here: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/st...?p=15496&title=EUROPEAN+DOVETAIL+MAXIMA+RINGS

I really like the mounts I've had. They are solid. I also like the company, very good to work with.

Thanks for the link :) I think Warne mounts will be OK I have done a little searching and that's the name I'm coming up with.
