Here is my pawn shop find.... a Arisaka Type 38 Carbine. Need to do research but I believe it is a series 2. Bolt does not match the rifle per serial numbers. What is the indentation in the top handguad for? Never seen that before in pictures.

It's has an arsenal code of "ax" and is a '41 dated receiver. Has all of the kraut markings. The Soviets didn't peen them off. I replaced the cleaning rod, sight hood, and sling for it. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet. It's in nice condition for a Soviet rework. Even the "X" marking is nice. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

Here is my new to me Soviet M38 Carbine. It's 1944 dated Izhevsk with a wartime M44 stock. Which for that period would be correct. All matching numbers. Possibly a forced match.

Nice toe ;)

Cool rifles too. No idea what the indent in the Ariska is for. Almost looks like it fit into a socket, but why a bolt action would be in a socket is beyond me
