It's not the fanciest thing, but it's the biggest one I could haul into one of the upstairs bedrooms. I didn't want them out in the garage.

At one time I wanted a fine wood-and-glass gun cabinet, but anymore, I think a steel gunsafe with a three-bolt lock is probably a better idea.

Did you get it from Academy? About how heavy is it? And is it more of a locker than a safe? Ever since my parents house was broken into, I've been searching for a nice way to lock the rifles up. The only one's I've found to fit my budget are the Stack On's. I live in a third floor apartment, so weight is definately an issue.

Hedley, home depot carries a sentry safe that holds 10 or 14 guns (two different models), cost around $350, and weigh in around 2-3 hundred pounds.

The shipping associated with a safe is huge (100-200).

I got it from Sportsman's Guide by way of Amazon.com. It was $102 delivered. Weight is around 70lbs, but you can take it up piece-by-piece and then put it together. That's what I did. 36 bolts (a ratchet wrench helps) and 12 screws (an electric screwdriver also helps), and you'll need a big adjustable crescent wrench to install the lock.

Like I said, it's nothing fancy, but it's better than nothing.

I you're allowed to, it also comes with lag bolts that you can drive into the wall studs or into the floor.
