Hey all..
I just bought a nice Model 60 S&W. I don't know much about it, The SN# is R105xxx. I'm guessing early 70's, is that correct?
My primary use will be for concealed self defense. I've decided to just use standard .38 and not +p ammo.
So what do our forum gurus recommend for a first rate standard .38 defensive round in this snubby?

I carried mine loaded with Speer 135gr GD Short Barrel, but that is plus P. It was developed for that kind of gun.
If you don't want plus P, look at Buffalo Bore non plus P ammo. It has the power of other plus P ammo, but at standard pressure levels. I am using BB's version of the 158gr SWCHP in my M640 Pro, due to the Pro model seems to shoot low with lighter ammo. Otherwise, it would be the Speer Short Barrel, either plus P or MGN.

My S&W Std Catalog indicates the years and serial number range to be:

1974-1977 R100000-R190000.

With that info, I'd then estimate 1974.

I use +P ammo and unable to advise on standard pressure self-defense .38 Special ammo. I can refer to this thread from another forum:
