My first shotgun.

I bought my first shotty yesterday. It is a used Ithaca m37 Featherweight in 16ga.I got it for 150 bucks in 99% condition,and I love it. I can't stop taking out of my case. I can see that it's going to be an excellant upland gun. I have one question though, on the barrel there is a stamping that says ''PROOF TESTED' does this mean that it is ok to shoot steel loads though my barrel?

"Proofing" means they shoot one or more overpressure loads through it to see if anything tears loose.

Older shotguns should not be used with steel. Check with Ithaca on the date of manufacture and if this one can be used with hard non toxics.
