i have been researching ways to trick out my 500 i found a rifled barrel could some of you knowledgeable people tell me why i would want or need this?

why a rifled barrel for a shot gun?

is this for slugs?

do they make pointed slugs?

what is the kill distance?

for non-hunters is a rifled barrel a need?

A rifled shotgun barrel is for slugs. A smooth barrel can be used for shot or rifled slugs. Rifled slugs are not for rifled shotgun barrels.

FYI, some jurisdictions, particularly in the Northeast & some states abutting the lower Great Lakes, hunting laws prohibit the use of centerfire rifles, but allow muzzleloader/blackpowder rifles and shotguns - for which rifled barrels were developed, mostly for deer hunting.
