More questions from a noob...

It's a given that I haven't been to the book store just yet, so if my questions are covered in the books, I'll take my 40 lashes with a wet noodle.

1 - I have a few options on a reloading bench location and I'm curious as to what you more experienced re loaders would choose. One spot is the center isle in the garage, the other is in a spare bedroom. Both have good points and bad points. Garage is not heated or cooled but I don't have to worry about making a mess. Spare room while heated has carpet so static comes into play.

2 - Garage has the compressor, which I have no idea if that's needed for reloading, but I'm planning on running an air line up to the spare room anyway. I build R/C cars and planes and use the airbrush to paint them.

3 - How much of a factor is humidity and/or temp while reloading?

4 - Suppliers, if these are covered in the books I'll get there eventually.

5 - How much of a worry is "gunpowder" dust in reloading? I ask this because the furnace in the garage is gas and has an open flame all the time, the pilot never goes out.

6 - In the "near future" I'm planning on getting a black powder muzzle loader, will I need a separate bench for that?

Have no fear that I won't come up with more questions fairly soon. I just want to make this as safe as possible and as user friendly as I can since I'll be the user.

I have reloaded almost 5 decades. I've done it indoor/outdoor garage, attic/basement

1. I would opt for indoor. Static electricity is not a safety issue, as it will not ignite powder. Static can be a nuisance on flake powders as it clings to the measure.

2 Compressor is nice for periodically blowing down bench and press, but not manditory.

3 Humidity can rust things up quickly. It can also effect powder, both to high a humidity or a lack thereof. The garage is more prone to fluctuations, and that is the problem.

4 Suppliers??????:D (see below)

5 Nonissue.

6 No bench, but seperate powder measure.

What Shoney said. One caveat with the B/P.After 25 years of B/P shooting I have found for either rifle or pistol round ball or bullet.Purchase some 1/4 oz bottles with corks(sunburstbottleco.com)they will hold up to 120grs of the holy B/P.And a couple of MTM 12ga cartridge box' to hold the 1/4 oz bottles. You can weigh or measure your powder charges at home and spend more time shooting at the range.:D

Holy smoke!!! Thanks for all the links!!

I second that!

That must have taken a lot of time and effort. It's going take a while for me to go though all those links. What a resource for knowledge.

Thanks again!

Local wise to save the shipping cost on smaller reloading supplies, you might want to visit Dave at Alabama Ammo in Moulton. Also Zero bullet manufacturing is in Cullman, Margrert is great.
