Model help with a Rem SxS please.

I've got an old Rem. SxS that has been handed thru my family. The only number stamped on it is 350168. It's on the trigger gaurd and bottom of the forearm. Can anyone help with a model or circa date? I tried google and struck out.

Might be the Model 1900. According to the archives at Remington, it's their only old double that had a numbering block that would include a number in the 350,000 range.

Locate a Dixie GunWorks catalog,...

in the back they have old firearms info, especially the Remington SxS, with drawing for IDing the SxS, based ob the hammer style.

Dismount the barrels and wrap a length of rope around to suspend and lightly strike with wood hammer handle and listen for a clear distinct ring.

This will inidicate if the barrels are solidly soldered together or if the top rib is loose.
