Model 7 Remington Stock Adjustment?

It appears that the synthetic stocks on the Rem Model 7 can be cut to adjust it's length for smaller folks. I'm considering cutting one up to an inch to fit a friend.

Has anyone here know that the stock is made to be cut? Is there any factory literature that says so?

If the stock's not hollow, it's like any other stock. I mention the issue of being hollow because there might be some problem in attaching a butt pad. If it's solid, cut as needed.

However, the cut must be parallel to the existing surface, and a very fine-tooth saw is necessary to avoid "uglifying" the edges...

The stock is hollow and open at the rear, except for parallel pad attachment rods fastened to the top and bottom. It appears that an inch can be removed from the stock without losing the attachment features.

I guess I'll go for it, using a fine-toothed saw and finishing with the belt sander.!
