im looking for some mid-level .44 loads.

im shooting a ruger sbh 5.5" bbl, and ive got 240gr swc i cast.

im looking for +/-1100fps.

for this weight of boolit most special loads end below 1000fps, and most magnum loads start above 1200fps.

When I get mine I'l be using 240 cast SWC 18.5 grains of 2400 that pushes it about 1100 or so.Check out LYMAN 49th reloading manual more info is there.

I'll second 10.0gr of unique. Elmer's old practice load it's very accurate in every gun I've ever shot it in.

10.0 of Unique ought to be a good one.

Basically you can use any .45 Colt data for 250 or 255 grain bullets in .44 Magnum, substituting a 240 grain SWC. But not if the .45 load data says "Ruger Only" or +P.

Again with the 10gr Unique Load. I've found 8gr. to be more accurate, but it's under 1000. FYI, I use 10gr in my 45LC under 255 and 275.

Elmer wiped his butt with a pine cone too. :D

There are many other powders that will do what you want. I've played with some, maybe this will help - look in the load data section of the 329pd info link. Have fun!

19.0 gr 2400 gave me 1287fps from a 7.5" barrel, so if you went with 18.0 gr you would be right on top of what you ask for. No mag primers and give it a good crimp.

"...this weight of boolit..." This weight of what?
"...most magnum loads start above 1200fps..." Um, no. You must be looking at 240 grain jacketed loads. Hodgdon cast bullet .44 Mag starting loads run 759 to 866 fps. Max loads run between 940 and 1334.
Win 231 or HP-38 will give you 1100 fps mid-range velocities.
Mind you, what you're planning on using the loads for matters.

HP38 7.9gr/922
231 8.2gr/933
SR7625 10gr/1094

I would check my math against good updated load manuals as I was recruited from the human race.
