Marlin sight help needed

So my roommate recently purchased an older (pre safety) Marlin 30-30. I've only given it a cursory inspection, but it seems to be in mostly serviceable condition. One of the screws is buggered up, and the magazine tube appears to be a replacement. The real problem is the rear sight. It broke off shortly after he brought it home. Rather than just get a new version of the old sight, I've suggested he consider an upgrade. He's an ex-grunt Marine (a buddy from my old unit, actually) and a sight picture closer to the M16 would be very helpful. I'm fairly certain the receiver is not drilled and tapped, and I know he would not use a tang sight.

So, is anyone aware of a aftermarket rear sight that fits these requirements: fits older Marlin lever actions (preferably with no gun smithing), aperture sight picture, and that's fairly inexpensive?

First check the left side of the receiver for two small screws. These are the mounting point for an aperture or receiver sight.
Many Marlin's are drilled and tapped, and have plug screws in place.

Second, check to see if the top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount.
The rifle will have one or both.

Williams makes several types of excellent receiver sights that mounts to the holes on the left of the receiver or to the scope holes on the top.
You can buy them from Brownell's or Midway:

Here's a "clean" design receiver sight that fits the top of the receiver:

Here's the more traditional receiver sight that fits the holes on the left side of the receiver:

Here's a more expensive Target sight that fits the top receiver scope holes.
It has micrometer "click" adjustments:

There are other types of receiver sights, but most of those are more expensive.

I believe you can get a Marble's sight with an aperture leaf instead of a Buckhorn. My choice would be for the Williams receiver sight though. Cheap, reliable, simple.
