Marlin 989 m2

Due to a recent death in the family, I became the owner of a rough shape Marlin 989 M2, but is the "upgraded" version with plated trigger and select walnut stock, no last round hold open though so it is one of the earlier ones. Like the look of the gun and can remember waaay back when they came out. Wanted one then, but had since moved on to bigger and better things (suposably).

Anyway, cleaned it up as best as possible and reoiled. Removed probably about 30 years of no breakdown cleaning, including the magazine. Lightly got rid of the surface rust on the barrell (not too bad, just light rust spots). Stock was cracked clean through at the grip and repaired previously with stove bolts. Removed those, glued the stock together, inserted one bolt (second trigger group bolt that goes into the stock) and one dowel.

I know that Numerich does have replacement stocks as per the original but was wondering if other stocks were available. Anybody know which stocks will interchange with the 989 M2?

May take it out later today to see how it shoots if I can get away for a while.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Jim
