I just picked up a 1972 Marlin 60.
#1 When I cycle the action by hand, the last shot fails to feed. Doesn't matter if I load it with 6 or 15, the last shot almost always fails to feed... What would normally cause this?
#2 Whoever owned it before me replaced the front screw that holds the receiver in the stock with a screw from the hardware store.
Long story short, I screwed the screw in a little too far, and it pinched the follower and broke it in half. I glued it, taped it, and used shrink tubing on it to hold it together for awhile until I can replace it. I have since then cut down the screw so it does NOT come in contact with the follower
Now, I did NOT cycle the action BEFORE the follower broke. Could the added material on the follower be causing the last round to FTF?
I have seen that you can buy the whole magazine tube/follower for about $25 + shipping. Is there any way to replace just the plastic follower? Is there even any way to take the magazine tube apart?
Thanks for the help!
