M1A Op Rod

How much play is there supposed to be in the op rod/charging handle? It seems that in mine there is a little bit of wiggle and I am able to move it around slightly. Is this a big deal/problem? I feel like there needs to be a little play but not sure.

There is always some play in the operating rod.

What you do not want is the operating rod dismounting when you shoot.

If your operating rod functions the rifle and you are not having any sort of dismount issues, stop worrying and go shoot your rifle some more.

Op-rod play is normal, as long as it does not dismount when shooting you're GTG.
