Lyman Turret Head Storage Ideas

Greetings,

I have a Lyman T-Mag and currently 2 turret heads for 2 different calibers. My short-term, quick-and-dirty solution was to screw a dowel rod into a board to store the extra turret head.

However, I'm going to quickly expand to 4 calibers, needing to stow/store 3 turret heads at a time.

Can some of you post your ideas for how you store your turrets? I have an idea of what I'd like to do, but would like to see what others have done before getting started.

Thanks!

Storing Turrets

Basically the same thing you done , I bored a hole in a 2x6x18" & mounted 2 wooden dowels 5/8" dia 6" hi & drilled a hole & placed a cotterpin to suspend the turret, then place em in the cabinet until needed .

Toolbox

I don't leave my bench set up all the time. I take it down after every loading session. I put everything away in toolboxes and the toolbox for my dies has room for seven turrets.

Of course, my turrets are much smaller than yours. (Lee Turret, 4 dies, about 3" in diameter, and they have round plastic storage boxes that keep then closely fitted to the interior of the toolbox.

In your situation, I think I might get some short lengths of pvc pipe into which the turrets would nest or get a piece of plywood and cut pockets for the turrets to nest in. The plywood could be cut to be a close fit to the toolbox and raised up off the bottom a little. A 3" thick sheet of upholstery foam laid on top of the turrets/dies would keep them from shifting up and out of position.

You just have to find the right size toolbox.

Sorry, don't have pictures yet. So, I hope my thousand words will do.

Woodturning

I have a T-7, and four turrets, here is what I did. I turned some pieces of wood to hold them. I did virtually the same with a router for die plates for a Pro 2000 progressive press.
Shoot me a pm and I can probably help you out.

I have 8 or 9 of em... I was trying to think of a way to mount them to something to keep them out of the way.. that didnt work out... so I have them lined up against the back wall...and the table that they sit on I marked with a black permanent marker....for each caliber to sit in a certain place... so I always know which one is which caliber.
